Mid East Djembe, 12"x22"
Product Description
The Djembe is a single-headed, goblet-shaped, hand drum that is traditionally carved from a single tree trunk. Traditionally it has a goat-skin head that is rope-tensioned. Many drums are now being made with tuning hardware. The Djembe comes from the area of West Africa, which includes Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinee and Ivory Coast. It is said that it originated in Senegal and Mali. The Djembe is now popular all over the world. The French spelling "djembe" is the most commonly used around the world but "jembe" is simpler and more accurate.
